With ‘lockdown’ likely to be extended for several more weeks we would like to give you an update on how we are working under the current restrictions. We would also like to thank our clients for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. You have all been fantastic!

Firstly, please remember that we will always be here for urgent cases and emergencies. In the last few weeks our small animal team at Oldmeldrum has dealt with intestinal obstructions, road traffic accidents, eye injuries and skin wounds and much more. Meanwhile, the large animal team have been particularly busy with calvings and lambing sheep.

If you think your pet needs attention from the vet, please do get in touch. Some cases can be assessed and treated with phone and video consultations while some patients will need to be seen at the surgery.

We regret that the New Deer surgery will remain closed to patients during lockdown. This is to ensure we can provide the best care for your pet while at the same time reducing the risk to our staff as much as possible. All small animal patients will be seen at our Oldmeldrum surgery.

Do not come down to the surgery without phoning first.

If you do need to come to the surgery with your pet, the vet will meet you in the car park. They may take this opportunity to gather some information on the problem before bringing your pet into the surgery for treatment while you wait in the car.

Payments will be taken over the phone.

**Please DO NOT come down to the surgery if you are showing symptoms of coronavirus or if you are in self isolation.** Telephone the surgery and we will discuss your options.

Unfortunately we cannot carry out house visits at this time, but our vets will still make calls to see horses and ‘larger’ pets such as pigs, sheep, goats and llamas! Please observe social distancing rules during these visits and follow any instructions given to you by the vet.

Finally, we would like to thank you all for your cooperation and for your kind words and appreciation. We are very proud of our extremely busy team of vets, nurses and support staff who are working to care for all kinds of animals during this outbreak. With your help, we can all get through this and stay safe.
